How to choose soccer cleats?
There are so many types of soccer cleats. See our guide below:
1. Firm Ground (FG) boots are best for natural grass surfaces with minimal rainfall. With so many places using artificial grass, companies are adjusting their designs and FG can generally be used on artificial pitches.
2. Soft Ground (SG) boots should only be worn when the surface is soft enough for the studs to penetrate the surface. Studs are usually made of metal or plastic. Players who live in areas where it rains frequently usually prefer this configuration and they usually feature removable studs to allow for customizing to different pitch and weather conditions.
3. Artificial Grass (AG) is the newest type of configuration. AG boots are specific to synthetic grass surfaces. These should not be used on FG.
4. Hard ground (HG) is a boot type that is becoming harder to find. These are best suited for harder surfaces like sunbaked dirt, dry surfaces, or surfaces with worn down grass. This configuration features a low profile with many conical studs to help keep you balanced. These can also be used effectively on FG surfaces.
5. Turf shoes (AT) have long been the preferred choice for artificial surfaces (thin carpet turf). They feature a very low profile with a concentrated number of small conical rubber studs. They offer a more traditional performance option for players who play on any kind of turf surface.
6. Indoor shoes (IN) are designed for indoor/outdoor hard court surfaces like gym floors or asphalt/concrete. They feature a flat rubber sole and do not have studs. They look more like a regular sneaker, so they can also double as casual street wear too.
